I was honored to participate as an invited speaker at the 14th Balkan Congress of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, held in Prishtina, Kosovo, bringing together leading specialists from across the Balkans and beyond. The congress featured an extensive scientific program covering rhinology, laryngology, head and neck surgery, otology, audiology, pediatric ENT, sleep medicine, and advances in artificial intelligence in ENT practice.
As part of the Laryngology & Head and Neck Surgery program, I delivered an invited lecture entitled:
"Office versus Operating Room for Precancerous Lesions and Papillomas"
The presentation focused on contemporary decision-making in the management of laryngeal precancerous lesions and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis, examining the evolving balance between office-based procedures and traditional operating-room interventions. Advances in endoscopic imaging, instrumentation, and minimally invasive treatment techniques have expanded the role of office-based laryngology, allowing carefully selected patients to receive effective treatment with reduced morbidity, lower costs, and faster recovery.
During the lecture, I discussed:
Patient selection for office-based versus operating-room treatment
Advantages and limitations of each approach
The role of modern endoscopic technology in diagnosis and treatment
Current strategies for managing laryngeal dysplasia and papillomatosis
Functional outcomes and quality-of-life considerations
Future directions in minimally invasive laryngology
